Terri McLellan, M.Div
Reverend Terri Lynn McLellan is an ordained minister with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) Capital Area Region. Terri was commissioned in ministry by the Region as an Associate Pastor in November 2013 while serving at the church plant, United by Faith Christian Church. She was a partner and officer with the East Coast Azusa Women’s Ministry. Committed to mentoring and discipleship, she teaches weekly classes and mentors women preparing for ministry.
Rev. Terri served as the Christian Education Department chair at Shepherd Park Christian Church in Washington, DC under the leadership of Rev. Marcus Leathers. Her areas of oversight included Youth and Adult Sunday School, Small Group/ Discipleship classes, Vacation Bible School, Church School, Leadership Development, and Disciples Camp & Conference Activities, as well the spiritual development and faith-formation for the SPCC church family.
Rev. Terri accepted her call to preach in 2003 and preached her initial sermon on July 27, 2006 at the Greater Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church in Baltimore, Maryland under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Reginald A. Thomas, Sr. There she served as an Associate Minister, the Praise Team Worship Leader, a teacher for both the Discipleship Institute and the church’s New Membership classes, and was an elder for the Daughters of Imani- a rites of passage program for young ladies ages 8-18.
Rev. McLellan’s theological training includes a certificate of Biblical Studies from Calvary Bible Institute @ Greater Mount Calvary in Washington, DC; a Master of Divinity in Practical Theology from Regent University in Virginia Beach, VA. In addition, Rev. Terri has a Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics from Norfolk State University in Norfolk, Virginia.
Terri has worked in public service with the federal government for over 26 years. She has served as Senior Manager for the past 7 years and in this capacity has expertise in the areas of Leadership Development and Training, Information Technology, Program Management, Strategic Development and Coordination, Performance Metrics and Quality Assurance.
Rev. Terri also served on the Executive Board for the Disciples Center for Public Witness, the Board of Governors, as the Vice-President.
Her greatest accomplishment, however, has been the call to serve God, His people, and her family. She enjoys spending her life and ministry with her best friend and husband, Daniel and their son, Shawn.
One of her favorite scriptures is John 15:16:
“Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in My name, He may give it you.”
