Reverend Carmen Jennings Woodson

Carmen is an ordained bi-vocational minister serving in ministry at Garfield Memorial Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), where the Reverend Joy Majied is the senior pastor. Carmen has 24 years of service at the United States Postal Service and is the manager of Retail Experience for USPS Headquarters in Washington, DC.

Carmen had been serving the Lord in multiple capacities in church and outreach ministries when she felt a strong calling to teach and preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved by Him, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly explaining the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15 (NRSV). This Scripture resonated deeply in Carmen’s heart. By God’s grace, she put her faith into action as she believed in what God was calling her to in ministry.

Carmen answered the call to minister the gospel in 2014 and holds a Master of Divinity degree from Christian Theological Seminary Indianapolis and a Bachelor’s degree in Leadership and Ministry from Crossroads Bible College in Indianapolis, Indiana. She is also certificated in Biblical Counseling and Evangelism.

Carmen recently served as the 2022 Christian Church Capital Area Regional Assembly Chairperson. She is a member of the Ministers’ Association Executive Committee and the Congregational Life Committee in the Christian Church Capital Area Region. She has also facilitated Growth Groups and is a prayer host at Light of the World Christian Church (LWCC), Indianapolis, Indiana where Reverend Janae Pitts-Murdock is the senior pastor. Carmen was the Servant Leader of the New Members and Congregational Care Ministry, a member of the Prayer Warriors Ministry, and an at-large member of the Church Council at LWCC. Carmen also served in outreach ministry as a mentor at a girls’ juvenile detention center. She also led a small group in worship services at an assisted living center in Indianapolis. Carmen also served as the resident evangelism minister at Springfield Christian Church, VA under the leadership of Reverend Ciara Simonson.

Carmen is passionate about sharing the Word of God with compassion, encouragement, and growth as she serves in ministry unto the glory of God.
